The farm Tomte

Who looks after the animals while everyone sleeps? Deep in the forests of Värmland lives a little farm tomte who has watched over his farm for more than two thousand years.

At night, he tends the animals and keeps the barn in order. Afterwards, a bowl of porridge, his wife Hilda and their nine little ones await. The forest is also full of friends to visit, from the ravens of Odin and the Norns to Näcken and Tilas the mountain troll.

The Farm Tomte is a warmly illustrated tale where Swedish folklore meets Norse mythology and imagination. With kindness, humour and a little mystery, Linda Abrahamsson welcomes readers into a world of woodland secrets and lasting friendships.

A magical story to read together. Remember to leave him some porridge!
